BMA Environmental Policy Statement

Effective as of July 2, 2009

Principles

BMA strives to be recognized as an environmentally responsible organization. We conduct our operations to minimize negative impacts on the environment, conserve natural resources and energy, and reduce waste production. Our environmental management system policies and procedures, based on section 4 of the ISO 14001 standards, addresses each of the following elements:

General Requirements
  • Establish and define the scope, maintain and continuously improve BMA’s environmental policy and procedure (EPP).
Environmental Policy
  • Emphasize the need to comply with all applicable legal and other requirements that affect the management of environmental aspects and impactsincluding responsibilities, authorities, relationships, functions, processes, procedures, practices, and resources.
  • C ommunicate BMA’s environmental policy to all persons who work for or on behalf of our organization, ensure they understand our environmental management system; encourage all persons who work for or on behalf of BMA to be environmentally responsible and to Reduce/Reuse/Recycle (Recycling, given the costs entailed, should always be the last option).
Planning–Aspect, Objectives, Programs
  • Establish measurable objectives; define the policy and legal issues based on the determination of how legal and other requirements apply; ensure BMA’s general framework for action outlines how environmental aspects should be handled; and integrate established and emerging environmental "best practices" into standard BMA operating practices.
  • Provide the resources needed to establish, maintain, and improve our EPP.
  • Ensure compliance by adopting business practices and operating procedures that meet and promote the environmental performance expectations; continue to focus on future plans to develop or modify activities, products or services; and document the outcomes.
Operational Requirements
  • Maintain process documents and records related to the scope of BMA’s EPP including environmental policy, objectives and targets.
  • Develop or identify all documents and records needed for compliance with ISO 14001.
  • Identify changes that made to documents and means of controlling external documents that influence EPP planning and operations.
  • Establish and use emergency procedures to respond to, prevent or mitigate adverse environmental impacts emergencies and accidents can cause.
  • Identify training needs and record training provided in conjunction with BMA’s EPP.
Checking Requirements
  • Establish, implement, and maintain procedures to periodically evaluate compliance with all relevant legal and other environmental requirements and record the evaluations results.
  • I nvestigate nonconformities and determine their causes to mitigate potential environmental impacts and record results achieved.
  • Maintain environmental records to demonstrate environmental management requirements are being met and prove compliance with the ISO 14001 2004 standard.
  • Conduct internal impartial and objective audits of implemented programs and procedures and document results.
Review Requirements
  • Support, monitor and evaluate the implementation of this policy through its annual activities and agenda
  • Ensure management reviews include audit results, changes, communications and complaints from external parties, legal changes, previous findings, and the status of previous corrective and preventive actions, follow‑up actions, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continual improvement through changes to environmental policy, objectives or targets based on m anagement review outputs (decisions and actions).
  • Seek additional ways of achieving our goal of being an environmentally responsible organization.
